概要 Abstract:
Recently numerous fatigue cracks were observed on Orthotropic Steel Decks (OSDs). Fatigue crack at rib-to-deck joint that penetrates to the deck plate is the most critical because it deteriorates the serviceability and safety of the traffic. Rib-to-deck joint is prone to fatigue cracking since it subjected to directly applied wheel load and the presence of welding residual stress. Some researchers have proved that SFRC pavement is effective to reduce local bending of OSD’s deck plate. However, the effectiveness of SFRC application with fatigue crack existence is unclear. In this study, the critical crack depth that can be retrofitted with SFRC pavement is studied. It was found that SFRC pavement is effective to arrest the crack propagation through the deck plate. In addition, a new method is proposed to relieve high tensile residual stress at the weld root of rib-to-deck joint.
