I chose this laboratory because I am interested in the field of "maintenance management" of civil engineering structures. In this laboratory, you can learn mainly about "fatigue characteristics" of steel bridges by using both experiments and analyses. We can also participate in various conferences held in Japan and abroad, so we can acquire presentation skills that will be useful even after we enter the workforce. In addition, there are many events other than research, such as drinking parties and baseball games, which are characterized by the close proximity between professors and students. I recommend this program to those who want to have a fulfilling laboratory life!

I chose this laboratory because I was attracted by the professors' passion for "fatigue". The feature and attraction of our laboratory is that we can experience both high-level experiments and analyses in our research activities. The "fatigue test" that I performed is a time-consuming test that requires a lot of planning and perseverance. Although there were some difficulties, I felt a great sense of satisfaction when the test was completed without any problems. In addition, there are many opportunities to give presentations at seminars and conferences. Through these experiences, I was able to acquire the "ability to prepare materials" and "presentation skills" that will be useful in the workforce.
