Hello, everyone! This is Nakamura, M1 student.
Professor Masaru Shimizu will be leaving our laboratory at the end of July to take up a new post as an Associate Professor at Kumamoto University starting in August.
Due to his busy schedule with both our lab move and his own personal relocation, we were unable to hold a grand farewell party.
However, as a modest token of our gratitude, the students presented him with a coffee maker and a digital message board (shikishi).
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the alumni who contributed messages for the digital message board.
Receiving so many warm messages—even from alumni from generations before my time—made me realize once again just how deeply Professor Shimizu is admired and respected by everyone.
He supported us not only with our research, but also in so many ways behind the scenes that we did not even notice.
Words cannot express how grateful we are.
It is hard to imagine our lab without him, but we will do our absolute best to keep pushing forward. Whenever we cross paths at academic conferences or other events in the future, please do let us catch up and talk with you!
